According to the Census Bureau's 2009 American Community Survey (ACS), women comprise of 24 percent of STEM workers. Immense potential of girls everywhere is being ignored due to a lack of either opportunities, or the knowledge of how to seek them. Dulles Girl Bytes is committed to keep pushing that percentage higher by encouraging girls around the Houston area to pursue their passions in computational fields. Club members will volunteer at middle/elementary school girls in the Houston area to teach introductory computer science, and to show them that a mere stereotype shouldn't stop them from realizing their passions in computational fields.
"No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half its citizens" - Michelle Obama
